MAY 2014
Well folks, with spring finally here... yes I can for sure say that now... so too are fleas and ticks. These pests can carry unwanted diseases such as Lyme disease (carried by ticks), that can be very severe if untreated. We have a simple, quick, and accurate test that can be done in-clinic if you are unsure if your dog has contracted this disease. If your dog is positive for Lyme disease we have the medications needed to treat the disease. For those of you in the highly infested areas we suggest getting your pet vaccinated for Lyme disease. This yearly vaccine protects your beloved pet as it boost the immunity against the Lyme disease bacteria – Borrelia burgdorferi. There have been 171 cases of positive results of Lyme disease in Nova Scotia from 2002- 2012. That is a relatively low incidence rate however you don’t want to be one of those unwanted statistic cases. For more information on this disease see http://novascotia.ca/dhw/cdpc/lyme.asp.
Also, come by and see us for any of your pets needs. Whether it be food, medications, flea/tick/deworming treatment, or leashes and collars, we have it all. If you want to weigh your dog or cat just stop by and of course there is no charge. When you stop in if you would take a few moments to fill out our customer survey it would be appreciated.
